Our Story

From the hands of artisans in Java to our gallery in Huntsville.

Our StoryFrom Java to Huntsville

At Exoteak Traders Limited, we believe the pieces you bring into your home should mean something.

Our journey began with a love for the extraordinary craftsmanship found on the island of Java, Indonesia, where skilled artisans transform teak, reclaimed wood, roots, and other natural materials into pieces unlike anything mass-produced.

Every knot, curve, grain and imperfection tells part of the story. Some pieces begin with massive teak roots. Others are created from reclaimed boat wood, live-edge slabs, or wood shaped by nature long before an artisan ever touches it.

No two pieces are exactly alike—and that's exactly the point.

Furniture That Is Also Art

We don't believe beautiful furniture should look like everything else in the room.

Our collection is filled with pieces that make you stop and look twice—from handcrafted live-edge tables and sculptural root furniture to reclaimed wood pieces, carvings, artwork and one-of-a-kind décor.

Some are functional. Some are art. Many are both.

We personally select pieces that have character, craftsmanship and a story worth bringing all the way from Java to North Alabama.

The Hands Behind the Work

Behind every handcrafted piece is an artisan.

The craftsmanship represented in our gallery comes from generations of skill, patience and an understanding of the natural materials being used. Rather than forcing the wood into something it isn't, many of these pieces celebrate its original shape, grain, texture and history.

That's part of what makes them impossible to duplicate.

When you purchase from Exoteak, you're not simply choosing a piece of furniture. You're supporting the people and craftsmanship behind it.

Beautiful Furniture. Real Impact.

Exoteak was built to do more than sell beautiful things.

Ten percent of our profits are committed to supporting a foundation in Indonesia, allowing the success of the pieces created there to make an impact in the communities they came from.

That connection is an important part of who we are.

From the artisan who creates the piece in Java, to our gallery in Huntsville, to the home or business where it eventually belongs, we want every part of the journey to matter.

Find the Piece That Speaks to You

Our Huntsville gallery isn't meant to feel like a traditional furniture store.

Come wander. Look closely. Touch the wood. See the scale of these pieces in person. Find the weird one, the beautiful one, the enormous one—or the one you can't explain but somehow know belongs in your house. 😂

Our inventory is constantly changing, and when a one-of-a-kind piece is gone, it's gone.

We invite you to visit us and experience Exoteak for yourself.
